CLOUD XP - NEW MURAL BY STREET ARTIST BOND TRULUV

Between October 23rd and 28th, 2024, street artist Jonas BOND continued our PUBLIC MURAL ART PROGRAM public mural art program with another facade design entitled CLOUD XP at Johannisplatz 01 in Chemnitz, next to the first mural by Claudia 'MadC' Walde.

Born and raised in Germany in 1983, BOND TRULUV began engaging with graffiti writing at the beginning of this millennium. Since then, he has been insatiably exploring new forms of letter composition and calligraphic expression, as well as various other disciplines of visual art and graphic design. His constant yearning for transformation and variation in terms of material and style is cultivated through extensive travels. As a multimedia artist, he experiments with various materials and techniques such as canvas, installations, video mapping, and long-exposure photography.

Recently, he has focused on new technologies and was the first graffiti artist to incorporate augmented reality animations (AR) into his works, to further push the boundaries of contemporary urban art and create spectacularly vivid images that alter reality and the dimensions within the works and the places where they are placed.

BOND's work harmonize with their surroundings, the color scheme of the environment determines the nuance of the work, and the mood of the surroundings is reflected in its formal language. The artist illuminates his wall works with light sources, films and photographs them, thus transforming his graffiti art into a multimedia installation.

He also applies his sophisticated technique to his works on canvas and facades, which show letters, futuristic figures, and fantasy worlds with incredible depth and luminosity. A recurring figure in his works created with spray and acrylic paint is a robot model from a 3D software, which questions our identity formation in the digital age.

The artwork has an specific point of view set by the artist. When watching the Mural from the Johannisplatz you should check it out near the entrance of the former Galerie Borssenanger to get the perfect view and photo.

The facade design is animated as part of his artist residency at the CAMMANN Studios and thus made experienceable via augmented reality on the smartphone. HALLENKUNST is a bidbook project of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Kellnbergergruppe for providing the gable and for their cooperation in the preparations for the artistic design. The project was further supported by the Department of Urban Development and Construction Chemnitz.
